The Position
The IT Director is a hands-on technical leader responsible for managing the full technology environment. This role blends strategy, day‑to‑day support, systems administration, vendor coordination, and project management. The ideal candidate is resourceful, self‑directed, and comfortable switching between tactical tasks and strategic planning as the company scales.

The IT Director must be comfortable operating as a oneperson team initially in our Englewood office, while also collaborating closely with our partners in France. Strong, crosscultural awareness and the ability to work and communicate effectively in an international environment are essential.

The IT Director will serve as the primary point of contact for all things IT and may need to provide initial troubleshooting and guidance for IT issues, will manage hardware and software provisioning, assist with device setup and manage replacement and repairs.

The IT Director will guide the implementation and support core systems such as Microsoft 365, collaboration tools and security and may need to configure and maintain network equipment (in partnership with vendors as needed). They will oversee backups, monitoring, patching and oversee general system health.

The IT Director will be key in identifying and implementing practical, right-sized security controls, managing user access, MFA, device compliance and data protection practices. They will also coordinate incident response and maintain basic security documentation.

The IT Director will be key in identifying and managing the process to obtain the necessary certifications and compliance levels that are critical for the Space and Defense industry in the United States. This may include CMMC, AS9100, ITAR, and EAR, among others.

The IT Director will lead the design and execution of data security and privacy controls, ensuring compliance with required regulations such as GPP, GDPR, CCPA, and all PII protection standards.

The IT Director will act as the primary liaison with software providers and hardware vendors. They will evaluate tools and negotiate contracts balancing cost, scalability and business needs as well as overseeing the onboarding and offboarding processes and ensuring systems remain aligned with company growth

The IT Director may lead IT projects such as the selection and implementation of new software or tools (e.g., HRIS, ERP, CRM) and be responsible for system upgrades. They will need to document processes, create standards and evolve governance as needed as well as identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve the employee technology experience.

Experience
  • 8+ years of IT experience including 4+ years as an IT leader plus 4+ years of hands‑on IT experience in support, systems administration, or similar roles
  • Experience working with vendors and outsourced partners essential
  • Comfortable working as a “team of one” while building scalable processes
  • Experience with data security and privacy controls required
  • Experience identifying and managing the process to obtain critical certification and compliance needs for the Space and Defense industry strongly preferred (e.g., CMMC, ITAR, EAR, AS9100)
  • Experience in IT contract negotiation and management
  • Project management experience required
  • Experience with software assessment, selection and implementation
  • Experience in a small business or startup environment strongly preferred
  • Experience managing SaaS applications and user lifecycle processes
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows environments, and basic networking
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues independently and communicate clearly with non‑technical users
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast‑moving, resource‑constrained environment
  • Experience working in the Space and Defense industry is an advantage
  • French language competency is an advantage
Working Environment:
  • The Company’s working environment is that associated with an entrepreneurial start up. This environment may expose the IT Director to stressful conditions with shifting goals and tight deadlines. 
  • At the beginning of the Company formation, while the Company builds out the office space, employees will work from home.
  • When the office is built out, work will generally be performed in an indoor professional office environment in Englewood, CO. 

Salary and Benefits:
  • Summary Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 annually.
  • The salary information above is a general guideline. Difference in wages may depend upon a) a seniority system, b) a merit system, c) a system that measures earnings by quantity or quality of production, d) the geographic location of the work, e) education, training, or experience, to the extent reasonably related to the work, or f) travel that is regular and necessary for the work.
